Still Here

The toys are being played with.
All of the cousins are at home.
The tree is down.
The presents are gone.
All of the gifts have been opened.
The Christmas cds sit still until next year.
The Christmas movies on TV are no longer showing.
The lights are in the attic.
The wreath no longer shines.
The excitement is missing.

But Jesus is still here. Living, protecting us, every day.

Merry Christmas

I hope that you all are having a wonderful time with your family this morning! I just wanted to share with you what I got for Christmas! It is pretty awesome, so you might want to prepare yourself! Here we go:

First off I got a new Vera Bradley from one of our close family friends! Isn't it cute...!

All of this stuff is from Thirty One, a personalization company. I got stationary, address stickers, a new lunch box, and a tote for craft supplies.

3 new shirts from Aeropostale, I am wearing one of them.

These are my stocking stuffers, twistables, the colored pencil ones, new earbuds for my ipod, a Tangled book, and eye shadow.

Last but not least......drum roll please......A CELL PHONE!!!! I was so excited. My parents put the number in a box and when I called it, the phone rung in my purse!! It was the best Christmas present EVER!!! Isn't it cute...if you have a cell phone with a case, where did you get your case? Just wondering...

Overall it was a very good Christmas. Sonia and the boys were thrilled with their presents!

A kid again

Sometimes I feel like a kid again. Those older than me would say that I am still a kid, but I see myself as a teenager(after all I am 13). On Christmas eve, when little kids can barely wait to open their presents the next day, I still feel the same way. When you wake up on Christmas morning and you see 6:15 on the clock and you know that it is Christmas morning and you are so excited, and even though your parents told you not to, you go wake your siblings up so you can go open presents. I still feel the same way. When your parents put all the presents under the tree, and you wake up and shake them to try and guess what they are, you get so excited. I feel the same way, I do the same things. Even though some people don't see me as a kid, I feel like one at times, and I wish I could go back and do some of the things I used to do. For example, me and my best friend color when we watch movies together. I really want to go back to build a bear and make a monkey dressed with under wear and a little pink dress with bows in her hair, I would name her Bridget. Some days I want to go in my room and play american girls for hours. I want to play baby dolls with Sonia. There are so many things that make me act like a kid, things I want to do and things that make me feel like a child.

Do you ever feel the same?

12 days till Christmas

This morning I told Sonia that it was only 12 days until Christmas, she responds with, "NO WAY!!" That little girl cracks me up. Another thing...when I woke up my parents had wrapped all of our presents and put them under the tree! Sonia was looking at every one of them and if they were hers then she would pull them out and look at the wrapping paper. Anyway, just something to cheer you up this morning. ~Bailey~Psalm 56:3

One year

One year ago today we said good-by to the Smiths at the Ethiopia hotel.
One year ago today we boarded a plane with our Sonia Grace.
One year ago today we ate nasty airplane food.
One year ago today we landed in the U.S., at Washington D.C.
One year ago today we ate American food for the 1 time in 2 weeks, it was Wendy's.
One year ago today we waved goodbye to the Spores (who I miss SO much).
One year ago today we landed in Raleigh NC.
One year ago today we saw my grandparents and Kim Hearn at the airport welcoming us home.
One year ago today we drove home to our house that we love so much.
One year ago today we knew that Sonia Grace would be with us forever.

One year ago today we got home with Sonia Grace, she has changed so much over the last year. It is incredible to think that she has been with us for 1 year. Some days it feels like more and some days it feels like less. The little girl that I prayed for 8 years for, has been with us for a whole year. She is so very funny, almost of the time extremely happy, but she is like a normal 2 year old. She throws fits, she hits, and occasionally bites. I have almost finished my job in training her to love baby dolls. Overall our love for her has grown every day, and will continue to.

Angel pictures

Sooo, last night was our first performance. We did PERFECT. Did not mess up once...although some people said my smile looked fake...who cares. I have 2 pictures, neither are me in my gown, but the lighting in the room we do it in is terrible for pictures...don't worry my mom is going to get some today. Here you go:

Oh one more cute thing. Last night I got off stage at the very end and Sonia runs up to me hugs me and says, "You dance have fun!" That little girl melts my heart. There is also this little boy who has a solo, he is 6 and he is talking to baby Jesus, he says,
"What can I give him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would give a lamb. What can I give him? I can give my heart!!!" So stinkin cute. Anyway...thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

Let the angeling begin

Last night we had dress rehearsal for Merry Christmas North Carolina(our church Christmas program). I am an angel, and we were there for 3 hours...people the play is only 1 hour and 20 minutes. Besides it taking so long we had a great time, and I am really looking forward to this weekend! Thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

Family

Once I saw this quote:

"Family is like fudge, smooth with a few nuts."

That is so very true. Today J-man and I were..uh...lets just say not getting along. Then my dad came home, we ate dinner, and he turned on some Christmas music. Everyone started dancing. J-man and I were the only ones left...so we danced. Oh, my brother, he may get on my nerves, but I love him. He really cracks me up. I was trying to teach him how to dance, and he was trying to be funny and do some kind of jazz dancing, I'm not really sure. All I know is that no matter what you think, family is a blessing. A true joy to have a around. I don't know what I would do with out, the laughs from J-man, the kindness from William, the love from my parents, the blessing of having a sister, and simply...well everything about them. Yes, I have the moments where I want to hurt them, but I still have to remind myself that God gave us family to love and care for. Especially during the Christmas season it is very hard to be kind when you are so busy, but that is the most important time to love them. Just something for you to think about... also this time last year we were in Rwanda or Ethiopia(can't remember which country) getting Sonia...

"All I want for Christmas is YOU!!" (you know the song)

That was what we were saying, all we wanted for Christmas was Sonia. Now she is here, the one I prayed for 8 years long, the cutest girl ever, smiley, cherry, talkative, and perfect. I love her so very much. Best sister ever!

This Christmas

REMINDER: YOU ONLY HAVE 2 MORE DAYS TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY!

Now on to the post.
_________________________
When we come into the Christmas season the first thing we ask is, "What do I want for Christmas?" The real meaning of Christmas starts here: Luke 2:5-7 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

If you see here:
"and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."

Jesus lowered himself from the highest position he could ever be, with his father in Heaven, down to earth in a stable to be born into a baby...a STABLE people. It more than likely did not smell nice or did not feel comfortable. Instead on focusing on what we want this Christmas, I challenge you to think of others and what you can do for them, putting your self lower than everyone else to try in the smallest way to be like Jesus! Just thought I would throw that out there for you. Love-Bailey

P.S. Please feel free to copy this post on your blog and share the challenge. Thank you

Camp fire laughs

First off...HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! This time last year we were frantically packing for a trip to AFRICA...wow. It is hard to believe that it has already been a whole year, she is a completely different kid than she was when we first came home. I am so thankful for her and all she has done in our lives! Now...on Wednesday night we made a fire in the backyard, nothing caught on fire...thank goodness. Everyone knows that when you have a camp fire you have some great stories to go along with it(in this case 2). Soo here we go...

Story #1- The boys love to play with fire, so they would put large sticks into the fire and then run to the sand box and put it out. One time Jonathan put one on fire and ran to put it out, when he came back this is what he said, "I am going to do a magic trick...but don't worry I am not going to swallow the fire!" We all burst into laughing! On to the next story...

Story #2- We were talking about what we wanted for Christmas and my mom, being the smart, historical person she is said, "Do you know how Christmas started?" My brother William and I both exclaimed, "Here we go again!" Then Jonathan(have you noticed he is the odd one??) sang( yes, sang, we sing all of the time around our house)," Amazing grace, how sweet the sound." And then stopped, and we all laughed again.

Our family is clearly AWESOME, and strange, but you get used to it. Anyway...just thought you might need a good laugh this morning! ~Thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

P.S. I will be doing a giveaway sometime next week...so stay tuned!

Girls Weekend

This weekend was sooo much fun, I mean when two best friends hang out for 24 hours, how can it not be fun??? Anyway, the weekend started off with me spending the night at Emily's house. We watched Ramona and Bezzus, (by the way, AMAZING movie), while eating home made pizza, then we played Just Dance on the Wii. After that we watched an hour of Sense and Sensibility, and went to bed, yes teenage girls get tired. After we woke up, the two of us made cinnamon rolls, and pig candy(that my friend is another story for later), while we ate we finished Sense and Sensibility! My mom called to see what time she should pick me up and surprised us by telling us that she was going to take all of us to the mall, Barnes and Noble, and Hobby Lobby...yippee! We had such a great time and we also went to this place called Feenys, it is frozen yogurt that you get yourself, and they have TONS of toppings to choose from. In all it was a great girls weekend with my bestie!!

Can you believe it?

Can you believe that it has been a WHOLE YEAR since we saw Sonia's picture for the very first time? Yes, it is true it has been a whole year. CRAZY!!!!! Here is the picture that we received a year ago from the Rwandan government:

That same kid is now smiling, laughing, being spoiled by everyone, talking like she has always lived here, throwing fits like a regular 2 year old, and most of all being loved by our family! Sonia is so much different now, and it feels like she has always been here with us! Here is a picture of her now...what a difference!

Wow. So very cute! Anyway, I hope that your day is as great as ours! Thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

Bailey+3:00 am= A very tired person

Last light our church had a lock in for the middle schoolers. As you all know at a lock in you stay up VERY late. Let me also explain something else to you, I go to bed at about 9:30. At the lock-in last night we stayed up playing games until 2:00 am, and then finally went to bed about 3:15am. This combination results in a very tired Bailey B. Anyway, we had a great time even though I am exhausted today, it was still SO much fun(especially hide- and- go- seek in the dark)! Just a quick note to let you know how I am...thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

How He Loves Us

This is one of my favorite songs and I wanted to share it with you. Please take a few minutes to listen to the words of this song.

Isn't that incredible. The words in that song are amazing. Last year at D*Weekend the band played it and it really became a special song for everyone in the youth group, with all of those believers gathered in a large room, you could feel God moving in everyone. Every time they play it on Wednesday nights, during the worship services the volume of our voices gets so much louder, it is beautiful, simply beautiful. I just love that song and thought that I would share it with you. I hope that you LOVED it too. Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

P.S. That is one of my favorite bands singing it too!

Suprise, Suprise

Our family got a very special visit from a very special friend on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday! We were at church to see the Daraja Children's choir of Africa and I was going around to see everyone and hopefully hold adorable small children. I was holding Sonia and going to see one of the families in our homeschool group that came, and all of the sudden I heard the voice that sounds like music to my ears saying,"Bailey Bowers"

Paige Kreigel was standing in our church talking to me!!!!!!! Wow was I excited. I dropped Sonia(I mean put her down with great speed but did not hurt her) and bolted across the church lobby to hug her like I hadn't seen her in 2 years! Ok, you all know that I am not an emotional person, but when I saw Paige I am serious, I almost started CRYING!!!!! I cannot tell you how excited I was to see her beautiful face standing in our church! Later today she came to our house and I got to have Paige time for about 2 hours...glorious! All that to say, I miss you Paige, thank you SOOOO much for coming to see us, love you! Bailey-Psalm 56:3

Chocolate Hands

Now I am going to tell you a little story about our trip to CVS we took today.

Once upon a time we were riding in a car after we ate Cook Out on our way home. My mom had picked up some Hershey Kisses and note cards at CVS and Sonia was eating the Hershey Kisses and she got some on her hands (let me remind you of her skin color:

do you see her lovely skin). She appropriately said," Chocate hans". Which in baby language means, "chocolate hands". I responded," Yes, your hands are in fact chocolate" If you don't get what that meant, her hands are beautiful chocolate colored.

Just a little story to make you laugh! Anyway, thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

The cuteness of my sissy

I know that parents and big sisters are prejudice about their kids or siblings, but you have to agree that my sister is pretty stinkin' cute!

Oh yes, thats right...we match!!!! I have had that sweater for about 2 years and we found Sonia's on Friday at a consignment sale...so very adorable! Anyway, just wanted to share my sister's cuteness with you! Thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

Despicable Me-the movie

Yesterday we went to see Despicable Me! I loved it. From the title you would think that it is about evil villains and their plans...well part of it is...but other than a few parts of that it is a very sweet, funny, touching movie. There was some potty humor(which was extremely funny to my whole family...including me), but nothing bad besides that. The whole movie altogether was very good and extremely funny, if you and your family need something to do one night I suggest going to see Despicable Me!!!! Thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

P.S. My hand is doing much better, I got the stitches taken out on Wednesday. It is still a little sore and hurting just a tiny bit. Thanks for your prayers...they were greatly appreciated!

an update

on my pitiful arm. it is still bandaged, and i finally looked at it today! EW! it was gross!!!!!! my stomach hurt after that. i am not in too much pain which is great. i went to the doctor's office yesterday to get my arm looked at but also for all of us to get the flu mist(much better than the shot). they said that my arm looked wonderful for an arm with 37 stitches, which is great to hear. i get my stitches taken out in 9 days. we have been changing out the bandages of my arm and cleaning it to...which burns a tiny bit... not very bad compared to the numbing of my arm. i feel so helpless not being able to do things for my self. here is a list of 5 things i can't do:

1. put my contacts in
2. open medicine bottles or water bottles
3. wash my hair
4. type with capitol letters
5. fold clothes...not a bad thing

see told ya' i could give you five, and thats just the start of my list! one thing that i thought was cool was that my dad is preaching a series on acts. the chapter we are on is talking about telling other people about God. when i was on my meds i was talking about tons of stuff, and some of it i honestly don't remember. one thing my dad told me was that i told my doctor about Jesus(he was not a christian). i apparently told him about my great christian friends and family, my sunday school class, and our acts study. i thought that it was cool that God used my bad circumstance to tell someone about God. interesting...i know. anyway i don't mind any questions so don't hesitate to ask! thanks for praying and continue to- thanks for reading-bailey-psalm 56:3-

a trip to the emergency room

i was playing flash light tag with some of my friends and i was running out of their church and instead of turning the door nob, i stuck my hand through the glass window pain. i cut my arm terribly in 3 places so my dad had to come and get me and rush me to the emergency room. after i got there i had to get 37 stitches, it did not hurt that bad, except when they where numbing my arm before they stitched me up. so i can only use one hand which is why there are no capitol letters in this email. i go back to the doctors tomorrow, then i get my stitches taken out in ten days. i am on medicine for my pain, which is helping, but i am very tired. please be praying for me these next few days...thanks for being my friend! thanks for reading~bailey~psalm 56:3~

p.s. i am very blessed that it happened at my best friend's house because they are like family to me, and they took care of me until my dad got there! thanks guys...love you!

A special celebration!

Yesterday was Emily Grace's birthday! Now for those of you that don't know, Emily is my best friend. When my dad was in seminary so was Emily's dad, my dad and Emily's dad, and my mom and Emily's mom became best friends. So when I was born, it was quite natural for the two of us to be best friends! That leads me to say that Emily and I have been friends for 13 years and 9 months! I have the most wonderful best friend in the whole world! She has watched countless chick-flicks with me, I am serious we have watched "Love's Enduring Promise" about 5 times... not kidding! Anyway, here are five things about Emily:

1. She can make anyone laugh(not kidding)
2. We share the same hatred in math!
3. We are both girly girls
4. She is always wearing the most cute clothes and coordinating jewelry
5. She loves Zac Efron and Fred the movie

I love you Emmy G. Thanks for being my BFF!!!!!

Sometimes I wonder

Is she ever scared?
Does she remember what the orphanage was like?
Does she ever wonder who her real mother is?
Does she ever think that we might leave her?
Does she ever think that we don't love her?
Does she always know that we will be there for her?
Does she remember her birth mom?
When she throws her fits over food is it because she doesn't know when she will get more?
Does she ever wonder "why do these white people love me so much?"

Sometimes these questions run through my brain.

Does Sonia know that her big sister prayed for her to come?

I love you Sonia Grace, I always will. When you are tired I will hold you. When you are hurt I will kiss your boo-boos. When you are happy I will be happy with you. When you have question I will answer it to the best of my ability. When you want to go shopping I would LOVE to take you shopping. When you want to play baby dolls, I will play with you. Just know that I love you and I will always be there for you. You are the perfect little sister! Your big sissy~Bailey Elizabeth

School, why does it have to be this hard and long?

Seriously, I should not have just finished school twenty minutes ago...not cool! Today I got started with school at 9:00, left at 2:00 for a Latin meeting with some of my friends and my Challenge B teacher, got back at 4:00, took a break, ate dinner at 5:00 started back with school at 6:00 and finished at about 7:25...AHHHH! It is so hard! Not the actual school part, but how long it takes just frustrates me! I am usually finished at 3:00pm, but today was exceptionally long. Anyway, I guess that is what 8th grade is like, but at least I don't have to go to Public School! Thanks for reading~With love~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

P.S. I just wanted to say, Mom thanks so much for all of the hard work and time that you put into homeschooling us! I love being home schooled so much and I love you too! I appreciate the education that you give us, and can't wait to follow in your footsteps and become a wonderful teacher just like you! Thanks for all that you do!

A very special friend

6 or 7 years ago our family met a certain person that now plays a very important part in my life. She is like a sister to me. Even though she is 5 years older than me, we are like best friends. We have tie-died t-shirts together. We have had Zaxbys and Perfect Blend together, on our special day together. She went to youth camp with us this summer. She has an extremely funny personality. She loves being around kids. Most of all she serves others with a loving heart, and loves God more than anything.

Paige Kreigel, is like my sister. She just graduated high school this spring. We have grown to be AMAZING friends over the past six years. She is at College, and I miss her like crazy. When she left for college I felt like my sister left for college. About a month ago Paige took me on a special day. We went to downtown Lexington and took pictures. We ate lunch and ice cream together, and we tie-tied t-shirts and socks together. It was a wonderful day, for two wonderful friends. Since Paige has left for college we have been writing letters back and forth to each other. Most of all Paige is a Godly influence to me, and I can't wait to see where are friendship takes us in the years to come!

I love you so much Paige Kreigel and hope to see you soon! Thanks for all that you have done for me!

The Tender side of Paige

The kid loving side of Paige

The fun side of Paige at camp

And finally the normal Paige, she is always wearing hats!

Hello, anyone home????

Yes, I'm here! Sorry I have not posted in such a long time....I had Summer with the Arts July 19-23 and then I left for camp on my b-day, the 26 and got back here on the 31!I have not had much time to post. Just to clarify it was youth camp that our church went to and it was AMAZING I loved it SO much! Anyway, I am exhausted and I am hoping that I will get my energy back very soon!!!!!

I am so sad that summer is coming to an end so very quickly. :( We will be starting school back on the 17th of this month...I am sort of looking forward to it. I hope that you all have had a wonderful summer, and have a great start to the school year! Thanks for reading ~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~

Sadly...

...coming to an end. Summer with the Arts is sadly, but wonderfully coming to the end! :( I am so sad and will miss the kids I am working with so much! I will miss their excited spirits each morning, I will miss seeing their love for music, and I will miss just simply being with them every day. I would love to work with kids like this all day long every day(but leave out the tired part please). I hope that everyone else working at Summer with the Arts is enjoying pouring their hearts out into those kids, and the music, as much as I am. I feel like a proud parent seeing all of the kids in my group sing those songs and do the motions to all of the songs. It is one AMAZING week....and I love it so much! I really, seriously can't tell you how much I love it. Let me just say that you have to experience this week to see why I love it so much! Thanks for reading~Bailey~Psalm 56:3~
